About Les Garçons
Founded by Vincent Deslandes and Maxim Cyr, Les Garçons is a yarn brand and knitting shop on the Plateau Mont-Royal in Montréal. We offer our own line of premium yarns in several weights, along with a selection of luxurious natural fibres (merino, BFL, alpaca, mohair) from artisans and brands around the world. You will also find kits, patterns and accessories, and our knitting space invites the community to come knit with us. We serve our customers both in the shop and online.

Retail & Customer Service Associate

The position
We’re looking for a welcoming and organised person who is passionate about fibre to join our team. You will be the first point of contact for our customers, in the shop and online, and help keep the shop running smoothly day-to-day.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and advise customers in the shop: choosing yarn, calculating quantities, substitutions, needles and accessories
- Answer customer service emails, messages and calls (orders, shipping, exchanges and returns)
- Prepare, pack and ship online orders
- Ring up sales, and open and close the shop
- Receive merchandise, stock the shelves and keep inventory up to date
- Keep the shop clean, inviting and well stocked
- Help prepare Les Garçons yarns: labelling, storage and related tasks
What we’re looking for
- Retail or customer service experience (required)
- Excellent knowledge of knitting (required); knowledge of crochet, an asset
- Excellent command of French, spoken and written
- Good knowledge of English, required because a large share of our customers, in the shop and online, are anglophone or allophone: you will advise them and answer their emails in English
- Organised and detail-oriented, especially when preparing orders
- Comfortable with computers; knowledge of Shopify, an asset
- Saturday availability (required)
Conditions
- Status: Permanent part-time position, 20 to 25 hours per week, depending on availability
- Schedule: 4- to 5-hour shifts, Tuesday to Saturday. Ideally 5 shifts per week, but we’re flexible and happy to find a schedule that works for you
- Pay: Starting at $20/hour, depending on experience
- Benefits: Employee discount of at least 20%, 3 weeks of vacation per year (or the equivalent) and paid sick days
- Location: 1697 Marie-Anne Street East, Montréal (Plateau Mont-Royal)
- Dog-friendly shop: Our two dogs are with us every day, and customers’ dogs are welcome
- Start date: As soon as possible
