Fair Isle Weekend takes you on an exciting trip to Fair Isle, a windswept island in Shetland, famous for its traditional colourwork knitting. During her many trips to Fair Isle, Mary Jane has been fascinated and inspired by the island’s rich textile traditions.
“So I invite you to join us, this small band of traveling friends, sharing a little glimpse of the isle from my outsider’s perspective. I offer you a small collection in my own style of Fair Isle knitting, which I hope honors the tradition, even though my work isn’t especially traditional.”
Mary Jane Mucklestone is a knitwear designer, teacher and author who has specialized in Fair Isle knitting, also called stranded knitting. With her friend Gudrun Jonston, they host popular once in a lifetime trips to Shetland. Fair Isle Weekend will be her fifth book.
This hardcover book contains 8 beautiful colourwork patterns ranging from small projects like wristlets to yoked sweaters. [2 sweaters, 1 vest, 2 hats, 1 cowl, 1 pair of fingerless mitts, 1 pair of wristlets]
